Chiang Mai Inthakhin Ceremony 2009

The annual Chiang Mai City Pillar Ceremony, or Inthakhin Ceremony, will take place this year from May 20-27, 2009 at Wat Chedi Luang in the center of the old city.

On the first day of the festival, a Buddha image of Phra Chao Fon Saen Ha will be paraded around Chiang Mai city while locals wait along the street side to sprinkle blessed water (Nam Som Poi) to the statue. When the Buddha image returns to Chedi Luang temple, a ritual of flower offerings begins. People in Chiang Mai know Inthakhin ceremony as Tam Boon Khan Dok or Sai Khan Dok. Thailand's Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2009

The Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2009 is scheduled to kick-off this year’s annual event from 12 to 14 June 2009. The Festival boasts 2 tremendous main stages: one on the beach and another in the town of Prachuab Khiri Khan. There will be free entrance for all three-day performances, which run from 3.30 pm until mid-night.

The Hua Hin Jazz Festival promises to be one of the special highlights of the Thai calendar. The beach venue serves up a pleasing ambience as thousands of jazz lovers sit on canvas chairs and mats lying on the white sand beach, enjoying great selections of jazz music from the stage. The festival is expected to attract more than 100,000 people each night.

Outdoor Unlimited Chiang Mai Challenge 2009

On May 9, 2009, Tourism Authority of Thailand and The North Face sporting goods company are sponsoring the second year of the Outdoor Unlimited Chiang Mai Challenge 2009. The event is being organized with help from sports activity specialist, Active Management Asia.

The second year of the Outdoor Unlimited Chiang Mai Challenge promises an adventurous series of sporting events including mountain biking, running, kayaking and swimming. Teams of two will race through the varied mountain terrain surrounding Chiang Mai over a distance of 35 – 50 Kilometers (depending on level).
